2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the Mykolaiv regional organization of the National Writers' Union of Ukraine. For this event the staff of the Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi prepared a traveling book-documentary exhibition "United by a love of words".

On March 5, it began to be exhibited in two library branches No. 3 and No. 8 of the Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi.
 
The Mykolaiv regional organization of the National Writers' Union of Ukraine was formed in 1974. Among its first members were Mykhailo Bozhatkin, Leonid Voronin, Ivan Grigurko, Leonid Kulichenko, Ivan Lutsenko, Viktor Podolskii, Borys Slobodianiuk, Valerii Yuriev, Emil Yanvariov, Borys Yanchuk.
 
At different times, it was headed by Leonid Kulichenko (1974-1978), Mykhailo Bozhatkin (1978-1986), Valerii Boichenko (1986-1992), Yurii Mironov (1992-2000), Viacheslav Kachurin (2000-2010), Dmytro Kremin ( 2010-2018).
 
In January 2018, a woman writer, Vira Ivanivna Marushchak, became the head of the organization for the first time.

The creativity of the members of the Mykolayiv regional organization of the National Writers' Union has been awarded numerous prestigious international, national, and regional literary awards.
