Krashanka is dear to the heart for Easter, and the book for World Book and Copyright Day! And if the book was donated to the library during Easter week and is related to the theme of the Bright Resurrection, then we show respect to our dear donor – a famous Mykolaiv resident, a doctor by profession and artist Valentyn Smagin.
Valentyn Hryhorovych shared with us a special book from his private collection. An album of works by masters of folk painting "Ukrainian Folk Painting of the 13th-20th Centuries. The World Through the Eyes of Folk Artists" will appeal to artists and art lovers.
A beautifully illustrated classic edition with high-quality reproductions reveals the unique figurative space of Ukrainian icons, folk paintings "Cossack Mamai", works by world-famous Ukrainian masters, including Kateryna Bilokur, Maria Pryimachenko, Tetiana Pata, Ivan Skolozdra, etc. Familiarity with the album gives the reader an idea of the inexhaustible creative forces of the Ukrainian people, who even in the most difficult times of their existence created beautiful, immortal values.
The Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi is sincerely grateful to pani Valentyn for the gift!
We invite all fans of Ukrainian folk art to our library!
