In 2025, the Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi will celebrate 125 years since its founding. On February 7, during the preview conference, the library director Inha Khorzhevska spoke about the most important of them.

The Literary Museum of the Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi has prepared a number of interesting and informative exhibitions for visitors. They tell about the history of the library, autographed books, books from the rare editions collection, lifetime editions of classics of Ukrainian literature, and about the luminaries of Ukrainian theater.

During the anniversary year, “Reload the Library” and “Give Books with Love” campaigns will continue. An anniversary information campaign will continue on our FB page (https://www.facebook.com/KropyvnytskyiLibrary). Here you can get acquainted with the novelties of the book collection, get information about new arrivals, learn about reader tastes in the TOP “125 Reader Preferences”, with interesting facts about library life. Currently, the development of the current book brand is underway. The anniversary logo of the library will soon appear on our resources.

"There is a preliminary agreement with famous Ukrainian writers who will be guests of our library. And these meetings will continue throughout the year. There will be a whole series of interesting exhibitions that we dedicate to our anniversary. There will be a whole series of unexpected exhibitions. On the one hand, these names are well known and loved by the people of Mykolaiv, on the other hand, we will discover new names," emphasized Inha Khorzhevska.

We continue the projects that have already gained recognition from the people of Mykolaiv, and this year we are also dedicating them to the anniversary. These are the annual festival “Mykolaiv Chip 3”, Mykolaiv city open ecological readings “Let’s Save for Posterity”, and the city action “Mykolaiv Dictation” for the Constitution Day of Ukraine. This year, the text of the dictation will be dedicated to the library, and its author will be the director of the library, Honored Journalist of Ukraine Inha Khorzhevska.

We plan to implement several creative collaborations. On February 12, together with the Cultural and Artistic Association “Art-Spokusa”, we are launching the art project “Seasons of the Year”. With good friends and partners, the Children’s Art School of Mykolaiv, we are preparing a plein-air in the library with an exhibition of created works. Several events are planned with the Children’s Music School No. 8 and its director, Andrii Kryvoruchko. Among our partners this year are also the Youth Policy Department of the Mykolaiv City Council, the Housing and Communal Services Department of the Mykolaiv City Council, the Ecology Department of MOVA, the Mykolaiv Professional College of Culture and Arts, the Mykolaiv Academic Art Drama Theater, Iryna Gudym Publishing House, the editorial office of the newspaper “Evening Mykolaiv”, and many public and humanitarian organizations.

The Central City Library named after M.L.Kropyvnytskyi today is a socio-cultural center, with the book as an unchanging attribute, emphasized Yurii Liubarov, Head of the Department for Culture and Protection of Cultural Heritage of the Mykolaiv City Council.

"It's true. We see all these events that are planned and that have traditionally been held in the library for many years. This is what a library is today in the broad sense of the word. These events are related to the book and to the logos, as a word. As an image. And they are not related to the material part, which is a book. This is life. 125 years, let's be honest, this is childhood. This is, you could say, the beginning," says Yurii Liubarov.

We plan to participate in city events organized by the Department of Culture and Cultural Heritage Protection of the Mykolaiv City Council. The Central City Library is firmly integrated into the city community and shares with the city both its joys and its worries.

The Central City Library named after M. Kropyvnytskyi is proud to have a wide range of users. We are constantly expanding our capabilities and offers for the modern reader. We invite the people of Mykolaiv to learn more about this and take an active part in the library's events. Welcome to our anniversary year!
