There is very little left until the New Year - a bright, touching holiday with the smell of tangerines and pine needles. Every day, leafing through the calendar, each of us expects something new, hopes for the realization of our most cherished dreams. An indispensable attribute is decorating the house and the beautiful New Year's tree.

A toy is the memory of an ethnic group, nation, people, and humanity about its historical and prehistoric past. It is a heritage like language, fairy tales, and songs, and is tested by children's love for it, by children's play.

For a long time, rural artisans and farmers have been making typical eco-friendly straw toys. Among them were figurines in the shape of animals: deer, bulls, and horses.

At the end of the New Year and Christmas art marathon, regular visitors of the Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi made a straw snowflake during a master class thanks to the craftswomen of the Cultural and Artistic Association "Art-Spokusa".

"A snowflake is like a little star. So, let it shine in every house. And bring a symbol of hope, a symbol that shows the way home. Wherever our relatives are, let them follow this glow. After all, we are waiting for them. And we are ready to unite at the New Year and Christmas table," says Valentyna Kryvtsova, head of the Cultural and Artistic Association "Art-Spokusa".

Toys, snowflakes. Thanks to the skillful hands of the Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine, Tatiana Uliankina, various figures emerge from the stalk of golden rye. Believe me, this process is worth attending her master class at the Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi.

"As much as we grew bread, we made such decorations. This one is the most similar to a snowflake, because this is how our water freezes. And today we even decided while making our own snowflakes in the southern region, where we haven't seen snow for a long time, to call for snow to come to us. To be a real winter," emphasizes Tatiana Uliankina.

True folk symbols are born in the hands of a person who understands the language of plants, animals and colors, who invests his love and imagination in it. Therefore, let's save and restore the traditions of our ancestors. Let's create beauty with our own hands.
