Everlasting Moments of a Great Spaniard
December 25. Poetry evening "Everlasting Moments of a Great Spaniard" from the new creative project "Nobel Poetic Cycle", which was organized by the Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky together with the Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University.
On Catholic Christmas Day poetry fans got acquainted with the works of the great Spaniard Juan Ramon Jimenez, a Nobel Prize laureate in 1956.
Poems in many languages of the world by one of the most lyrical poets of the twentieth century were performed in the evening by the students of educational and informational center "Ukraine-Europe" of Mykolayiv Municipal Collegium, representatives of the Centre for Spanish Studies and poetry lovers. The guests of the event could enjoy the performance of the Spanish romance by Vincente Gomez; also they made a video-tour "Moger - the birthplace of the poet."

"The Knight's Move" by the "Saloon"
December 21. Regular meeting of the club "Saloon" for all lovers of poetry in the Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky. During the program "The Knight's Move" poets of the older and younger generations read their poems; among the poets were Arkady Surov , Oksana Kovalenko, Olga Skvirs'ka, Oleg Duhovny, Eugene Krasnoyarova, Oleh Dorosh and alsoVladimir Puchkov who shared his vision of his native city, in the context of the project "Genius loci".
Acquaintance with Juhan Viiding, the outstanding Estonian poet, playwright, actor, screenwriter, took place at the end of the meeting.
December 7,11,12. Seven films from the X International Itinerant Human Rights Documentary Film Festival "DocuDays.UA" in the Central Library named after M.L.Kropyvnyts'ky.
Filmmakers from around the world who shoot stories about human rights and their violations took part in this festival. Movie heroes are people who do not want to put up with the existing order of things around them, act and become successful, as well as children who fell out of life, and revolutionaries and the oppressed.
For years Itinerant Festival travels over Ukraine. This enables a large number of spectators to view documentary films from around the world and touch the world of high-quality documentary.
Current Itinerant Festival's program includes winning films from the X International Itinerant Human Rights Documentary Film Festival «DocuDays.UA», which took place in Kyiv from 22 to 28 March 2013, as well as award-winning films of the most famous international documentary films festivals.

November 30. Poetic meeting with a young writer and poet Julia Batkilina at the Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky (Kharkiv). Meeting with Julia Batkilina continued a series of meetings with interesting writers of Ukraine, who organized the poetry club "Saloon". The author was presented by Mykolayiv poet Oksana Evzikova, better known under the name of Ksana Kovalenko.
Julia Batkilina is an Ukrainian poet and novelist, writer and storyteller, author of satirical poems, romantic and philosophical lyrics, author of the blog riweth.livejournal.com, finalist of the IIIrd All-Ukrainian Poetry Festival
"Waterline ". Her works were published in several journals and anthologies such as "Artes Poeticae", " Levada", "Ovary ", " Zarisovka O", " Waterline 2013", and the journals "Edith" and "Meridian"; in 2005 the novel "The Old Tower" was published in a single book in the famous series of fantasy literature "Star Maze".
The author presented her new book of poems "Songs of the mill-wheel" published this year in Minsk. The poetry collection includes poems, stories and fairy tales in verses. Guests of the event had the opportunity to talk with Julia and enjoy the atmosphere of her poetry, feeling the notes of forests and water's rustling.
The second part of the meeting in the poetry club "Saloon" entitled "Mykolayiv by Arkady Surov" was held in the framework of the project "Genius Loci" and was dedicated to Arkady Surov, the famous Mykolayiv poet and creative individual.
At the meeting the poet was reciting his poems, which have become favorite for a lot of Mykolayiv citizens.
The meeting provoked great interest among poetry lovers and creative youth of Mykolayiv.
"Encyclopedia of Ship Power Engineering" was presented in the city of shipbuilding glory.
November 28. The Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky. Presentation of the Book "Encyclopedia of Ship Power Engineering" by V. Gorbov, Ph.D., Professor, Head of the Department of Ship Stationary Plants of the National University of Shipbuilding named after Admiral Makarov and V. Kot, Ph.D., Director of the Navy OJSC "Yugreftransflot".
V. Gorbov, one of the authors of the Encyclopedia, and his colleagues introduced the guests of the event to his new book. The unique encyclopedia – reference book, tutorial, educational publication, which has no analogues in Ukraine and abroad, was presented to all attendees of the event. This is the book, where for the first time in the academic literature the questions of regulatory environment of creation, construction and exploitation of ship stationary plants and marine vessels are considered fully. The classification of modern ships is presented. The history of the origin, development and establishment of ship energy, its current status and achievements are studied. The authors of the book also paid their great attention to the development and implementation of innovative technical idea of ship power engineering in our region.
This edition was published in the publishing center of the National Shipbuilding University named after Admiral Makarov; it has many illustrations and pictures. The book's design was made by V. Makushyn, the well-known artist and sculptor in Mykolayiv. Y. Lebedev, the director of the publishing center, told about the polygraphical design of the encyclopedia.
The presentation was followed by the demonstration of videos on the history of ship power engineering plants at Mykolayiv enterprises and photo documents from the personal archives of the authors .
The event was attended by the people from technical circles, and from the academia and art community of the city, teachers and students of Mykolayiv schools, historians, journalists, readers of the library.
Regional Conference for libraries and partner organizations in Mykolayiv
November 21. The 6th Annual City Environmental Readings "Let's Keep It For Our Descendants" in the Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky. The subject of Readings - 2013: "The Role of Accomplishment in the Forming of a Comfortable Living Environment". Place of intersectional cooperation in this process. Libraries in the south of Ukraine are active participants and providers of ecological information in local communities."
This year the environmental educational citywide event was held in the format of a regional conference for 100 representatives of non-governmental organizations, libraries and local government's representatives from Mykolayiv, Odesa , Kherson, Zaporizhia regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea with the support of the Department of Housing and Communal Services of Mykolayiv City Council and the program "Bibliomist".
November 21-22. Presentation of the best practices of cooperation between libraries and non-governmental organizations, discussion of opportunities and barriers for the implementation of projects aimed at the improvement of cities and environmental initiatives. Panel discussions included the discussions of the problems and prospects on accomplishment in local communities, in particular the environmental aspects of energy and planting of greenery in settlements, accomplishment of yard areas, water resources, transport and cities. The participants of the conference provided the dossier of practical groundwork and the electronic format of activity in the sphere of environmental initiatives and ecological information in local communities; got information about the possibilities of successful realization of the projects, which goal is to improve cities and search for potential partners, implement new services for the community, etc.
Communion of the conference participants via Skype with representatives of public libraries in Russia (Moscow, Tomsk) and local authorities in other regions of Ukraine (Kamenets'k Podol'sky) was held in order to share experiences and explore partnerships' best practices on environmental problems. At the open meeting "New Mykolayiv" the public organization "Dialogue" and the theater "Art Class" presented the documentary presentation "Tram № 10 was on the way", in which Mykolayiv citizens acted.
Participants of the event visited the review session "Mykolayiv region - Northern Black Sea Pearl" in Mykolayiv Regional Local Lore Museum.
VI Environmental Readings were accompanied by photo, art and subject- documentary exhibitions. The photo exhibition "An Urban Portrait" was presented by works of Mykolayiv masters – S. Gusev, D. Matz and A. Us.
Mykolayiv Regional Art Museum named after V. Vereshchagin presented water-colors of Mykolayiv artists at the exhibition "Beautiful city Mykolayiv".
As a result of the Readings the collection of reports and advertisement& information products were published. These materials will be transferred to public libraries, other institutions of culture and education in Mykolayiv.
The opening of Environmental Readings was attended by Y.Andrienko, the First Deputy Mayor of Mykolayiv and N. Novak, coordinator of work with partners of the program "Bibliomist".
"The Living Library" in the International Day for Tolerance
November 15. Citywide event "The Living Library" for pupils of secondary schools of the city and representatives of student government dedicated to the International Day for Tolerance. The event was held by the Council of National Societies in Mykolayiv region together with the Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky.
The project "The Living Library" is an attempt to read a person like a book. Everyone had the opportunity to talk with representatives of different social categories, cultures, nationalities, religions and countries to fail or confirm their stereotypes about them.
The purpose of the event is to create a dialogue between different categories of people, make those who do not have the ability to communicate with each other in everyday life to contact with each other. Ukrainian society has a lot of stereotypes about different groups of people, and perhaps such events will gradually change the situation.
"he Living Library " was presented by Armenians, Jews, Germans, Greeks, Mesheti Turks , Koreans, Africans , Muslims , Poles, as well as people with disabilities , ex-convicts , people with HIV .
During the event there was an active dialogue between participants of "The Living Library" with students; they gave definition to the words "tolerance", "national minorities", "ethnic group"; were acquainted with the activities of the Council of National Societies in Mykolayiv region. At the end of the meeting the participants took part in the survey to determine their personal impressions about communication in "The Living Library" format.
The project was visited by representatives of the Department for Culture, Nationalities and Religions in Mykolayiv Regional State Administration.

November 13. The "Honored Guest" of the next poetic evening "Thomas Eliot is a poet of two continents" was Thomas Eliot, the Anglo-American poet, playwright, literary critic, Nobel Laureate in Literature "for his outstanding and innovative contributions to modern poetry" (in 1948) .
Thomas Stearns Eliot is the author of "Prufrock and Other Observations " (1917),
"The Waste Land" (1922), "Hollow People" (1925), "Ash Wednesday" (1930) , "Stone" (1934 ), "Murder in Cathedral"(1935) , "Old Possum's of Practical Cats" (1939), "Four Quartets" (1943). He had 16 honorary degrees of European and American universities. From 1952 he was president of the London Library until his death.
Guests of poetic evening viewed literature works of Thomas Eliot from different points of view, felt originality of characters and atmosphere of poems written by a master of modernism; had the opportunity to evaluate specifically English sense of humor of the poet.
The evening was accompanied by poems in many languages of the world of the most respected English-speaking poet of the twentieth century performed by students of philological faculties of Mykolayiv institutes of higher education and poetry lovers.
Master and moderator of the meeting was Alexander Pronkevych, Doctor of Arts, Professor, Director of the Institute of Philology of the Petro Mohyla Black See State University.
The evening was attended by admirers of poetry, artistic intelligentsia, students of higher educational institutions of Mykolayiv, the participants of English clubs in Mykolayiv and library users.

"Дещиця до шевченкіани Миколаївщини" by I. Martsynkovs'ky
November 8. The Central Library named after M.L.Kropyvnyts'ky started a series of events "To Shevchenko's Sources" devoted to the celebration of the Year of creative heritage of Taras G. Shevchenko and the 200th anniversary of the outstanding poet's birth. The first event of Shevchenkiana was opened with presentation of the book "Дешиця до шевченкіани Миколаївщини" by I. Martsynkovs'ky, the regional ethnographer.
Igor B. Martsynkovs'ky is a cardiologist, CandMed Sci, Associate Professor of Humanitarian Institute named after Admiral Makarov, head of the Board of the Ukrainian Society "Prosvita" named after Taras Shevchenko. He is the author of two books: «Суднобудівні, судноплавні та корабельні терміни у творчій спадщині Т.Шевченка», «Дещиця до шевченкіани Миколаївщини», as well as the author and co-author of more than 100 scientific publications in the field of clinical medicine, history of medicine, Shevchenko's study and study of local lore.
In his book the author revealed the unknown pages from people's lives who are related to the name of Taras Shevchenko and our region. The publication presents the archival and contemporary literary sources, photos of museum exhibits and private collections.
The event was presented by Shevchenkiana from collections of the Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky "Taras Shevchenko: in memory of two centuries" where Mykolayiv citizens had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the poet's works of different imprint dates and different editions of literary documents of Taras Shevchenko.
Writers, literary critics, historians, cultural and art workers expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the author for his hard work.
Guests of the event listened to songs based on Shevchenko's poetry performed by Maryna V. Dobrovols'ka (using the pandora), lecturer of Culture and Arts College and Elizabeth Savina, pupil of school number 58, the winner of the Grand Prix of the International Children's Festival "Golden Crane".
The event was attended by representatives of governments, creative intelligentsia of the city, students and pupils, readers of the library and mass media.
The meeting was held in a warm, sincere and friendly atmosphere.
November 7. Literary meeting by RNO "Rusich" with witnesses and participants of the Great Patriotic War "During The War Our Kyiv Became A Hero..." dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the liberation Kiyv, the capital of Ukraine, and the 69 anniversary of the liberation of the whole Ukraine from the fascist invaders.
Writers Kapranovs' Brothers sang in Mykolayiv
November 6. Writers and publishers Kapranovs' Brothers presented their new music program "Dzen.ua" in Mykolayiv for the first time.
"Dzen.ua" - is a little singing, a little rapping using kobza and pipe. It is absolutely new; but the magical verses of Sergei Tatchin, one of the best poets of the present, in collaboration with Kapranovs' Brothers created unrivaled works which were never heard before. The event was accompanied by kobza-blues, kobza-reggae, kobza-rock, kobza-waltz, kobza-bossa-nova.
Kapranovs' Brothers also presented their new book "Drawn History of Ukrainian Independence" which broke all records at the Lviv Publishers' Forum. The edition was created by Yurko Zhuravl', the leader of the group "OT VINTA" (Rivne), Alexander Bronzov (Chernigiv), Alexander Kostenko (Dnipropetrovs'k , Yuri Vasin (Vinitsa ), Oleg Kollar (Mykolayiv), Roman Barabah (Lviv).

October 26. Meeting with a young Ukrainian poet Myroslav Laiuk (Kyiv) in the Central Library named after M.L.Kropyvnyts'ky.
Myroslav Laiuk writes the modern Ukrainian poetry, prose and plays. He was published in the following magazines "Krivbass Courier", "Literary Ukraine",
"Bukovyna Magazine ", "Cells", "People's Friendship", "New Youth", "Crossing", etc. , anthologies "Anhedonia", "Gopak", "Flower Anthology", "26 for The Protection", "Waterline -2013 "and others. In 2008 he published his first book "To become a world by yourself" (K.- Kosov); a new edition under the title "Sow- thistle!" was published in 2013 (K.: Fakel). This collection consists of 123 verses.
Myroslav Layuk's poetry was translated into Russian, Spanish, Polish and Armenian languages. His verses were set to music by Vasyly Pylypchak and
"Orchestra Bobovata". The young poet is the participant of the following festivals
"Kyiv Lavras", "Gogolfest", "Yogansenfest", "The Protection" , "Lviv literary festival" etc.
His achievements: I prize of "Fakel" Publishing House (Kyiv, 2012), the Ukrainian-German Prize by Oles' Gonchar (Kyiv, 2012) , the Grand Prix of the "Young Poets' Republic" (Lviv, 2011), III Prize of the festival "Waterline"
(Mykolayiv, 2011), III Prize of the literary contest "The Coronation of the Word"
(2012) in the nomination "Plays" (Kyiv, 2012), and others.
Evening meeting with Myroslav Laiuk was continued by the series of meetings with interesting poets of Ukraine, which are organized by the Poetry Club "Wardroom".
The author was introduced by Alex Torkhov - the poet, co-organizer of the Open Ukrainian Poetry Festival "Waterline", chairman of the Mykolayiv Regional Organization of the Congress of Ukrainian Writers.
During the event guests had the opportunity to communicate with the author, to get acquainted with his work and to listen to the verses of the young poet.
The event was attended by poetry fans, intellectuals and youth of the city, library readers and mass media.

October 25. Literary&musical event from the series "No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten" dedicated to Mykhailo Kravchenko - Mykolayiv writer and front-line soldier, journalist. The event was devoted to the Day of Liberation from the Nazi Invaders and was held in the Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky.
His poetry and prose, songs of the war years were cited in a friendly atmosphere. Everyone remembered and honored the memory of all those who approached the day of Ukraine's liberation from the German-fascist yoke.
THE FIRST PANI OF POLISH POETRY
October 16. The Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky and the Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University opened a new creative project "Nobel Poetic Series" for all admires of poetry.
The first meeting of the series- the literary evening "The first pani of polish poetry" is dedicated to familiarity with the poetess' woks. Wislawa Szymbors'ka is a laureate of the Nobel Prize for Literature.
Wislawa Szymbors'ka (1923-2012 gg.) is a Polish poetess, essayist, literary critic and translator. She is one of the founders of the Polish Writers' Association (1989), a member of the Polish Academy of Knowledge (1995), a member of the PEN Club (since 1988), an honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Literature (since 2001) , a laureate of the Nobel Prize for Literature (1996). She is owner of the highest and oldest award in Poland – The Order of the White Eagle (2011).
The evening was accompanied by the poems of the brilliant poetess in many languages - Ukrainian, Polish, Russian, German, English and Spanish.
The guests who attended the event listened to the worldwide poetry by Wislawa Szymbors'ka, heard the sound of a true poetic word performed by members of Mykolayiv Regional Society of Poles, philologists of the Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University, Mykolayiv poets and poetry lovers.
The author and moderator of the meeting was Alexander Pronkevych, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Director of the Institute of the Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University; co-organizer of the meeting was Elizabeth Selians'ka, the Head of the Mykolayiv Regional Society of Poles.

AT COMMUNITIES' SERVICE
October 4. Presentation of the book by Yakov Konotopenko "At Communities' Service", published to the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the Ukrainian Cities&Communities' Association in the Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky.
Mykolayiv Regional Branch of the Ukrainian Cities&Communities' Association is an independent division of the Association, which on a regional level brings together local authorities of 9 cities (Mykolayiv, Pervomais'k , Voznesens'k, Yuzhnoukrains'k , Ochakiv , Nova Odesa, Novy Bug , Bashtanka , Snigurivka ) and 2 villages (Berezanka , Pervomais'ke ) of Mykolayiv region.
For more than ten years the Executive Director of Mykolayiv Regional Office of the Cities&Communities' Association was Yakov Konotopenko.
The author has more than 50 scientific publications, including well- known publications on military topics. "At Communities' Service" is the first publication of the author, which is dedicated to the local authorities. The book discloses the historical roots, the essence and the present state of the local authorities. Through biographical sketches it shows the role of individuals in transformation of human settlements of the Soviet Era into cities and towns with modern self-government. We are talking about well-known figures who have worked hard for the development of territorial communities of Ukraine and Mykolayiv region. A more detailed description the author gives to Mykolayiv region which is attractive for the development of tourism.
The author and the book were presented by Zhurmy Natalia, deputy director of the publishing house "P.N. Shamrai" which published this book.
The presentation was attended by the head of Mykolayiv Regional Office of the Cities&Communities' Association – T. Yablonovs'ka; the executive director of Odesa Regional Office of the Cities&Communities' Association - V. Demchenko; representatives of public associations and organizations, local intellectuals and mass media.
During the presentation everyone observed a minute of silence in memory for V. Chaika, who would be 65 years old on October 5.
Visitors of the event had the opportunity to communicate with the author and to get answers to their questions about the new publication.

Festive Walking the "Literary Alley"
on All-Ukrainian Library Day
September 30. Central City Library n amed after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky invited residents to Open Day devoted to All-Ukrainian Library Day.
Many interesting events for Mykolayiv residents were conducted on the "Literary Alley" which was opened at the library area near the Library Literary Square.
A wide choice of "Spiritual Nourishment" from the "Literary Menu" in the form of bestsellers of modern literature (detectives, historical and romance novels, fantasy, children's literature, etc.) was offered in the makeshift café "Krapiva" for its visitors.
Residents showed their knowledge on the city's history and literature , taking part in competitions " Get to know with the city ," " Who is Who" , and in city- quest "Literary names on the city's map " looking through the pages of the best local history publications from the exhibition " Read, Mykolayiv! "
Good mood for residents was ensured owing to an interesting competition program with prizes and all-prize lotteries at the playing area "Intellectual Fun". Mykolayiv Go Game Fun Club "Rock Garden" invited admirers of intellectual games to take part in exhibition tournaments on Go Game, chess and checkers .
Visitors of the "Literary Alley" received "Friendship Bracelets" made during a master class on ribbon weaving in memory of the festival.
On this festive day the city residents left their comments and suggestions on the sticker-panel, creating a collective installation "I Wish the Library…"
The event was held under the annual action "Library&Citizens Together!"
September 29. Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky: Rewarding the participants of the summer Readers Championship "Reading 2013", which was attended by the best participants together with their parents. Celebration was held in a warm friendly atmosphere.
Before the rewarding there was a game program, during which the children and their parents were able to show their creativity and imagination. The holiday was accompanied by music, photo-report on summer CHITAYmer sessions and exhibition of creative works of the participants.

Rewarding was held in two age categories in the following nominations: "Golden Winner", "Silver Winner " and "Bronze Winner".
In the junior age group (1-4 forms) the "Gold" was awarded to Dmitry Andreev, the "Silver" - to Christina Zernitskaya and the "Bronze" - to ZaykoArina.
In the senior age group (5-7 forms) the "Golden Winner" diploma was awarded to Elena Gordienko, the "Silver Winner" diploma - to Dyumin Anton and the "Bronze Winner" diploma - to Dementieva Anastasia.
Participants diplomas were awarded to Dudnic Daria, Dudnic Tatiana, Zhevner Alexandra, Kolenchenko Ivan, Lavryk Anastasia, Ryzhenko Margarita, Tokarskaya Karina, Chepurko Elizaveta, Chepurko Tina.
At the end of the holiday all participants were able to participate in an all-prize lottery and to get valuable and necessary prizes for study.
Presentation of the book "Nebazhany svіdok" ("The Unexpected Witness")

September 28. Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky: Presentation of the book " Nebazhany svіdok " by Anatoly Kichinsky, the famous Ukrainian poet, song-writer , artist , winner of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine .
The collection "Nebazhany svіdok" contains about 200 selected poetries by Anatoly Kichinsky; it was released in the series " The Third Millennium: Ukrainian Poetry " in Chernivtsi publishing house " Bukrek " with the assistance of the International Charity Foundation "Ukraine 3000 ". It was presented at the International Festival "Book Arsenal" and "Publishers Forum in Lviv" ( 2013 ) .
Poetry by Anatoly Kichinsky is widely presented in periodicals and anthologies not only to Ukrainian readers, but also to foreign admirers of poetry in translations into many languages of the world. He also translated Georgian, Hungarian , Jewish , Belarusian and Russian authors. A lot of poems by Anatoly Kichinsky were set to music; his songs are performed by famous singers and his paintings, such as landscapes and still lifes, are in private collections in Ukraine and abroad. He created a number of highly artistic paintings; the new book "Nebazhany svіdok"
is illustrated by one of them.
The author was presented by well-known Mykolayiv residents – Vladimir Puchkov, the poet and managing editor of the newspaper "Evening Nikolayev" and by Alex Torkhov, the poet and novelist.
At the party those present had the opportunity to express their impressions about the author's works and to listen to songs based on his poetry.
The event was attended by admires of modern Ukrainian poetry, creative intelligence and youth of the city, and also the library's readers.

Peoples of the World Through the Eyes of the Master
September 25. Exhibition of dolls "Peoples of the world" by Iryna Krykhelia, the Master of Folk, for arts and crafts' admires in the Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky.
Over and over again the activities of Iryna Krykhelia were awarded by the decorations at the All-Ukrainian Folk Art&Craft Festivals. She is actively involved in the work of public institutions: Regional Creative Association of Amateur Artists and Masters of Arts and Crafts "Pribuzhzhya" Mykolayiv, Georgian Cultural- National Society "Iberia".
The exhibition "Peoples of the World" consists of handmade dolls; they are the figures of people of different nationalities and peoples of the world. The exhibition is the final stage of the festival of national- cultural societies "Friendship", which is held annually in Mykolayiv. The author arranged her collection so that each doll was not just an illustration of the certain nations representatives' clothes. Some dolls' positions and gestures are well thought through; they also have a certain sense, and one way or another characterize each nation or state, their historical past and present.
The master of works conducted an interesting exhibition tour and acquainted the audience with the style of her work. The event's visitors watched a video presentation on arts and crafts' products, created with love by the members of the collective "Extravaganza".
Among the invited guests were the heads of local societies and associations: Murad Kaimarazov - the Head of the Regional Council of National Minorities, Sergey Labartkava - the Head of the Georgian Cultural&National Society "Iberia", Tamara Belousova – the Head of Russian Society "Rusich". They shares their impressions about Iryna Krykhelia's works.
September 20. Literary&Musical Evening in the Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky. Presentation of the Songs Collection "Evening Silence" by Mykolayiv poet and composer Anna Oleinikova.
Anna A. Oleinikova is a music teacher of the highest qualification, senior teacher, member of the National Ukrainian Music Union, winner of the N. Arkas's Prize and the author of several music publications for children as "Two cats" (2008) , "My Land " (2009 ), "Autumn Strings" (2010 ); CDs and note albums "Snowdrop" (2011 ), "Umbrella" (2012 ),"Marvelous Autumn" (2012 ), "Winter " ( 2013 ) .
The new edition "Evening Silence" was published by Shamrai Polygraphic Association in 2013 in the context of the regional program on support native book publishing, book distribution and promotion of Ukrainian books in the Mykolayiv region , 2011-2015.
The new edition "Evening Silence" includes songs by Annia Oleinikova based on her on and Mykolayiv poets' poetry for children of high-school years and children of the secondary school. Among these poets are Ivan Baklitskiy, Yuriy Grossman , Olga Didusenko , Natalia Ivanova , Vladislav Ishchenko, Svetlana Ishchenko, Eugene Levchenko, Larissa Matveeva , Larissa Ratich , Leonid Rzhepetskiy , Vladimir Shport . The songs reveal the world of human relationships and feelings, the beauty of the native land. Great poetic lyrics, melodiousness, a deep emotional content was interesting as well for skilled vocalists as for young ones.
All present were able to express their impressions of the author's works , to communicate with Mykolayiv poets, to listen to songs performed by winners of international competitions - Didusenko Olga , Victoria Osadcha , Catherine Mirzoyan , and also by members of the vocal group "Dzhereltse" (Spring).
The event was attended by admirers of the author, Mykolayiv poets and writers, creative intelligentsia of the city and the library's readers.
The meeting took place in a warm, sincere and friendly atmosphere.
September 19. Pupils of the 4th form of school № 53 took part in a cognitive game-quiz "The town where I live" in the context of the virtual local lore program "Along Mykolayiv Region With Love", dedicated to the 224th anniversary of Mykolayiv.

July 12. V Regional song&literary author contest of people with disabilities "Pearls of South" at the Mykolayiv Academic Art Theatre of Russian Drama. There were 47 bidders; 19 participants took part in the contest for the first time. As well as in the previous years the competition involved the following genres: poetry, prose, author song. All present at the event were able to watch multimedia performances of the participants, and also to get acquainted with the exhibition of creative works made by people with disabilities. Many participants of the competition were awarded by diplomas.
July 11. Literary&musical evening "Winged Rhyme’s Melody" of the poet and novelist Larysa Ratich, and composer Anna Oleinikova whose work are well known in Mykolayiv and abroad took place at the Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts’ky.
The program included presentations of new works of the authors and audio album of songs "Starfall." Poetry and songs performed at the event were full of special sensibility, melodic, beauty and uniqueness of artistic performance and emotionally colored by a vivid language.
During the presentation guests got acquainted closer with the authors and their new book, shared their impressions about their work.
The event was attended by members of the literary and artistic associations of the city, admirers of Larysa Ratich and Anna Oleinikova, readers of the library and media representatives.
Mykolayiv citizens "discovered" America in July 4
in the Central Library named after M.L.Kropyvnyts’ky
July 4. Thematic meeting "We are opening America" from the series "The Road Notes of Our Countrymen" dedicated to the Independence Day of the United States of America.
The library "discovered" America as early as in 1999, working together with the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, when the first free internet places for residents were created. Since then, the library has established a close partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Foundation for Democracy, the U.S. Peace Corps in Ukraine, the program "Bibliomost", which is realized in Ukraine with the support of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and other organizations and foundations, which support initiatives of the libraries in Ukraine.
The exhibition of works by Gennady Maslov, the American photographer of Ukrainian origin, under the title "Notes (to life)" opened the meeting. Presentation of the exhibition in Mykolayiv became possible owing to the friendly relations with Dmitry Mats, the famous author enthusiast, Head of Environmental Protection Department of Housing in Mykolayiv City Council. Alexandra Filonenko, the art historian, curator of "Gallery in Spas’ka 45 str." skillfully informed about the specific details of the work of photographer.
Gennady Maslov in his video message from the distant shores of America told about the art of photography in general and the concept of the world’s vision through his creativity.
The meeting was continued by the comments to the collection of essays and photographs "We are opening America" of Vladimir Puchkov, Mykolayiv poet, chief editor of the newspaper "Evening Mykolayiv", who visited the United States within the framework of the exchange program "Public relations". It was a question of civilized and intellectual development of the country's universal values.
There was not the end of the meeting. The citizens, who visited the United States of America on exchange programs, educational and cultural projects, shared their impressions at the open meeting "New Mykolayiv”. Among them: Lyudmila Rudenko-Kardash (Mykolayiv City Fund "LASKA", visit to the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2000), Lolita Kaymarazova (Council of National Societies of Mykolaiv region, a visit to Cleveland, Ohio, in 2004), Natalia Volodka (NGO "Care of the elderly people in Ukraine ", a visit to Cleveland, Ohio, in 2004).
Dmitry Matz described his visit to Cincinnati (Ohio) in 2006, in the group “Utilization of waste”.
Tatiana Ostapchuk, the Head of the Department of Theory and Practice of Translation of the Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University shared the experience of her stay together with her family in the USA in the university camp State College in the Pennsylvania State on a Fulbright Probation Program.
The participants discussed the positive experience of education, environmental issues and improvement, strategic programs of development of American cities; And once again they also "discovered" patriotism, law obedience, respect for their country and a desire to bring to their hometown the very best what exists in other countries.

Feast of Mykolayiv Book - 2013
Traditionally for the World Book and Copyright Day, which is celebrated on April 23, from April 22 - 26 at Mykolayiv Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky, XI exhibition of local publishers' book " Mykolayiv Book - 2013" took place with the support of Mykolayiv Regional State Administration and City Council.
The exhibition program included a wide range of activities to promote local publishers, authors, books and reading among the city residents. The main place for major events of the exhibition became the Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky.
- April 22. Grand opening of the exhibition of local publishing houses "Mykolayiv Book - 2013 " with the participation of government bodies' representatives, publishers, intellectuals, libraries and media. 15 Mykolayiv publishers and 4 magazines presented their products for the citizens. Among the regular participants of the event are publishing house "Atoll", Gudym I.A., "Design and Polygraphy", "Ilium", " Cimmerian Opportunities ", "Nawal", "EL Talisman", "Shamrai", "Yaslav", publishing houses of Mykolayiv National Agrarian University, National State University named after V.A. Sukhomlins'ky, Mykolayiv Regional Teacher Training Institute, National Shipbuilding Institute named after adm. Makarov, Petro Mohyla Blacksea State University, Emel'yanova publishing company, magazines "Autograph. XXI Century ","Business alliance ","Names". Literary and art magazine "The Cathedral Street" was presented for the first time. The awarding ceremony for the winners of the Ist regional competition for the best project on promoting local book publishing and reading took place as part of the exhibition's opening.
The first day of the exhibition in the Central Library was marked by Cultural and Leisure Action "Night in the Library", which included a variety of interesting cultural events with the participation of local historians, poets, and musicians.
- April 23. Presentation of literary and artistic publications: online magazine "Literary Mykolayiv" and magazine "Cathedral Street" during the thematic Exhibition Day "Contemporary literary life of the city",
- April 24. Traditional Thematic Exhibition Day "Historical and local history book". Presentation of a book by V. Tsyganov "Striped Marines go into battle" via Skype. The book is dedicated to the heroic landing force of K. Olshans'ky. This day the following books were also presented. They are the books by Podgurenko "Sergey Dmitrievich Kolosov is the creator of the ship's gas turbine construction" and S. Troshina "The General" dedicated to S.D. Kolosov and V.I. Romanov - two outstanding constructors of the scientific production association "Zorya-Mashproekt".
- April 25. New Library Initiative - Literary Museum in Potyomkins'ka Str. during the Thematic Day "Let's honor the creators of words and books". During this meeting the guests of the exhibition got acquainted with the exposition of art works of S. Roslyakov -director of Mykolayiv Art Museum named after V. Vereshchagin, with first materials on the literary local history which were received by the library museum. The partners of the event were Mykolayiv regional local lore museum and Y. Lubarov - history amateur. Poets D. Kremin' and V.Puchkov donated his their art portraits to the library museum.
Three young plants in honor of Mykolayiv writers – Y. Kryuchkov, V. Puchkov, A. Malyarov were planted in the literary square near the library with the support of the Department of Housing of Mykolayiv City Council.
Traditional solemn rewarding of the winners of VII regional competition "The Best Mykolayiv Book" in the context of "Mykolayiv Book".
- April 26. Anniversary party "An Artist Does Not Require Rewards; His Fate Has Already Rewarded Him » devoted to the famous Mykolayiv novelist A. Malyarov on the 80th anniversary of his birth. The novelist was congratulated by his colleagues, publishers, librarians, journalists, and friends.
Mykolayiv Regional Children's Library named after V. Lyagin also participated in XI exhibition of local publishing houses, where they held a festival of the new book "Fabulous gifts from Mykolayiv writers" during which various books were presented to children. Poetic Congratulations "I am the poet of a single note" in the context of the All-Ukrainian action "Mykolay Vyngranovsk'y Month" (conducted by the poet T. Kremin') in the Scientific and Pedagogical Library.
Art accompanying of XI exhibition was a collective installation "Mykolayiv Book", video project "Send your greetings to Mykolayiv book!!!", an exhibition of art works by S. Roslyakov "From the past to the future" and a documentary exhibition "Story's glorious pages" from the private collection of Mykolayiv collector V. Yurlov. During the exhibition the Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky received a gift from V. Yurlov - about three thousand art postcards of the second half of the twentieth century.
During the exhibition of local publishing houses the citizens and guests could communicate with writers, historians, ethnographers and expand their knowledge on history and contemporary cultural life of the city.

- From January 10 to March 30, 2013. Children's competition "Literary Journey in Eighty Days" in the Subscription Department for Youth in the Central Library named after M.L. Kropyvnyts'ky. The competition was open to all children who liked travelling and adventures. During the competition children read books, perform creative tasks and attended meetings of the Literary Studio "CHITAYmer." As part of the Studio the following events took place: geographical and educational events "Crossing Europe", "Unknown Asia", "English Children's Writers", German Children's Writers" and the game-quest "The Incredible Adventures in the Library." Results of the competition were announced during the literary evening "When You Open a Book, You Open the World." The most curious and courageous travelers became the winners and got memorable gifts.

- March 19. Ceremonial summary of results and rewarding of PSA contest's winners "Let's make environmental future of Mykolayiv" which started at the end of 2012.
