The monograph examines the history of medical care in Mykolaiv from the founding of the city in 1788 to 1920. During various historical eras in the life of Mykolaiv the author investigated and highlighted the formation, establishment, development and results of practical medical care for the city population, in particular maritime and city (Duma) medical service, implementation of sanitary and hygienic and anti-epidemic measures, various types of medical care, pharmacy business, activities of medical and other public health care organizations.

The monograph is the first attempt to comprehensively cover the history of medicine in the pre-Soviet city of Mykolaiv. It is intended for scientists, teachers, students, doctors, public figures and everyone who is interested in local history.
